BRICKLIN SV1 - 1975 THE BRICKLIN WAS A GULL-WING SPORTS CAR BUILT FROM 1974-EARLY 1976. IT WAS BUILT IN NEW BRUNSWICK, CANADA. THEY ONLY BUILT 2,854 BEFORE THE COMPANY WENT BANKRUPT. IT IS ESTIMATED THAT 1,500 STILL EXIST TODAY IN 1998. THE SV IN THE NAME STANDS FOR "SAFTY VEHICLE" WHICH HAD A BUILT IN ROLL CAGE AND SIDE GUARD RAILS WITH SHOCK ABSORBING EFFECT. THE BODY WAS ACRYLIC AND HAD THE COLOUR OF THE CAR IMPREGNATED INTO THE ACRYLIC SO IN EFFECT THE CAR WAS NEVER PAINTED AND SCRATCHES COULD BE JUST BUFFED OUT.
THE FIVE COLOURS FROM THE FACTORY WERE RED, WHITE, GREEN, ORANGE AND SUNTAN. THEY WERE ALL REFERRED TO AS "SAFETY" COLOURS. THE CAR NEVER CAME WITH ASH TRAYS OR LIGHTERS AND HENCE THE "SAFETY" REASON WAS IMPLEMENTED.
ALL BRICKLINS PRODUCED CAME WITH A BEIGE INTERIOR AND WERE ALL BLACK BELOW THE BELT-LINE OF THE CAR BELOW THE DOORS ALL AROUND.
